Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 12th June 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to tuition and related services provided by BloomStone Tutors Ltd.

Please read them carefully before submitting payment or beginning lessons. By ticking the agreement box online, confirming tuition in writing, making payment or using BloomStone’s services, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms & Conditions.

If you are completing the booking process on behalf of a child, you confirm that you are the child’s parent or guardian, or that you have authority from the child’s parent or guardian to enter into this agreement.

1. About BloomStone Tutors

BloomStone Tutors Ltd provides specialist online academic English tuition for children aged 7–11 in international schools.

Tuition is provided directly by BloomStone Tutors. BloomStone is not acting as an agency or introducer unless this is expressly stated in writing.

BloomStone support is offered through three connected programmes:

  • Reading

  • Writing

  • Speaking & Listening

Each programme has a clear academic focus. Teaching may also draw on connected skills where this supports the child’s progress.

2. Enquiries and suitability

The first step is the Start the Conversation questionnaire.

BloomStone reviews the information provided and advises on the most appropriate next step. This may include a recommended programme focus, suggested lesson length and a short consultation before tuition begins.

BloomStone may decline to offer tuition, or may recommend a different form of support, where a child’s needs fall outside the scope of BloomStone’s online academic English provision.

BloomStone is not a specialist SEND, clinical, therapeutic or diagnostic service. Where a child requires specialist assessment, therapy or intervention, parents may be advised to seek support from an appropriately qualified professional.

3. Scope of tuition

BloomStone provides online academic English tuition. Lessons may support reading, writing, spoken explanation, vocabulary, grammar, sentence control, comprehension, reasoning, organisation and independent application.

BloomStone does not replace the child’s school curriculum, school teaching or formal assessment. Tuition is designed to strengthen the academic English children use to access school learning more effectively.

BloomStone is not a homework-completion service. Schoolwork may be used as context or evidence of the child’s current English needs, but lessons are designed to build academic language skills the child can apply more independently in future school tasks.

4. The 12-lesson unit

BloomStone usually begins with a structured 12-lesson unit.

This gives enough time to set a clear teaching focus, teach carefully, build practice, review progress and make a considered recommendation for next steps.

All new clients are expected to begin with a 12-lesson unit as the standard structure unless BloomStone recommends a different arrangement in writing.

5. Fees, payment and lesson credit

Lessons are paid for in advance in lesson blocks.

BloomStone recommends adding lesson credit for at least four lessons at a time. Some families choose six lessons to reduce the frequency of payments and support a smoother rhythm within the 12-lesson unit.

Once payment has been received, the lessons are added as lesson credit and used for scheduled sessions.

Before tuition begins, BloomStone will confirm:

  • the recommended programme focus

  • the lesson length

  • the lesson fee

  • the suggested payment block

  • the total amount due before the first lesson

Payment is made through a secure payment link or invoice provided by BloomStone.

Lesson places are confirmed only once payment has been received.

BloomStone may pause, delay or decline lessons where payment has not been received.

6. Currency, payment charges and receipts

Fees are charged in pounds sterling unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Parents are responsible for any currency conversion fees, bank charges or payment-provider charges applied by their own bank, card provider or payment service.

BloomStone does not store full card details. Payments are processed through third-party payment providers.

A payment confirmation or receipt will be provided for payments received.

7. Lesson credit validity

Lesson credit should usually be used within 12 weeks from the first scheduled lesson in that payment block, unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing.

This timeframe helps maintain consistency and allows teaching, practice and review to work together.

Unused lesson credit may expire after the agreed validity period unless BloomStone has agreed an extension in writing.

Where BloomStone is unable to deliver scheduled lessons, the affected lesson credit will remain available or the lesson will be rearranged.

8. Scheduling lessons

Lesson times are arranged directly with BloomStone.

A regular weekly lesson time is recommended where possible, as this supports consistency and planning.

Preferred lesson times cannot be guaranteed indefinitely. A lesson time is not confirmed until payment has been received.

If a parent does not arrange the next lesson block before the current block ends, BloomStone cannot guarantee that the same lesson time will remain available.

9. Cancellation and rescheduling by parents

Lessons may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice, subject to availability.

Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged in full and the lesson credit may be deducted.

If a child does not attend a scheduled lesson without notice, the lesson may be charged in full.

Rescheduling requests must be made in writing by email or through the agreed parent communication channel.

BloomStone will make reasonable efforts to offer an alternative time where appropriate, but rescheduling is subject to availability and is not guaranteed.

Where exceptional circumstances apply, BloomStone may use discretion.

10. Lateness

Lessons begin and end at the scheduled time.

If a child joins late, the lesson will not usually be extended.

If a child joins more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, BloomStone may treat the lesson as missed and the lesson credit may be deducted.

If BloomStone joins late, additional time will be provided where practical. Where this is not practical, BloomStone will arrange a suitable way to make up the lost teaching time.

11. Cancellation by BloomStone

If BloomStone needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson, the lesson will be rearranged or the lesson credit will remain available.

If a technical issue caused by BloomStone or the teaching platform prevents the lesson from taking place, the lesson will be rearranged or the lesson credit will remain available.

12. Technology and access

Parents are responsible for ensuring that the child has:

  • a suitable device

  • stable internet connection

  • working audio and video

  • access to the lesson link

  • a quiet and appropriate place to learn

Students are expected to have working audio and video during online lessons unless otherwise agreed.

BloomStone provides setup guidance and a lesson access link before tuition begins.

BloomStone is not responsible for disruption caused by parent-side or student-side technical issues, including device problems, internet failure, microphone or camera issues, forgotten lesson times, unsuitable lesson setup or inability to access the platform where the correct access details have been provided.

Where a lesson is disrupted by parent-side or student-side technical issues, the lesson is not automatically rescheduled or refunded. BloomStone may use discretion in exceptional circumstances.

13. Lesson environment

Lessons should take place in a quiet, appropriate and safe learning environment.

For younger children, a parent or trusted adult should be nearby at the start of the lesson to help with setup, focus or any technical issues if needed.

Adults do not need to support the lesson content, as teaching is directed to the child by the BloomStone tutor.

Parents may observe lessons where appropriate, but should not interrupt, answer on behalf of the child or participate in the lesson unless requested by BloomStone.

14. Homework, preparation and participation

BloomStone may set short tasks between lessons.

One task may be set after a lesson to help the child practise and secure the language just taught. Another short task may be set before the next lesson to help the child prepare, such as looking over key words, reading a short text or answering a few quick questions to revisit previous learning.

Tasks are designed to be purposeful and manageable.

Progress depends on a range of factors, including attendance, participation, practice between lessons, prior knowledge and school context.

BloomStone does not guarantee progress where attendance is inconsistent, engagement is weak, homework is repeatedly not completed or the child is not ready to take part in online lessons.

15. Progress updates

BloomStone reviews learning throughout the unit.

Parents receive:

  • a midpoint progress update

  • a fuller written review at the end of the unit

These reviews outline current strengths, current priorities and recommended next steps.

Where continued support is recommended, the next unit builds on the progress already made and develops the next area of academic English.

16. Communication

Parent communication should take place through agreed adult communication channels, usually email and, where appropriate, an agreed messaging channel.

BloomStone aims to respond to parent communication within 24 hours, Monday to Friday, excluding weekends and public holidays.

Urgent lesson-access issues should be sent through the agreed communication channel as early as possible.

BloomStone does not use private or informal communication channels with children outside agreed lesson arrangements.

Parents should not seek to contact BloomStone tutors through personal phone numbers, personal email addresses, personal social media or other unapproved channels.

Key arrangements, including lesson structure, payment, scheduling, cancellations and progress updates, should be confirmed in writing.

17. Safeguarding and online safety

BloomStone is committed to safe, professional online tuition.

Lessons take place through approved online platforms and agreed communication channels.

Parents should ensure that the child attends lessons from an appropriate setting.

BloomStone does not routinely record lessons.

Parents, students and tutors must not record lessons without prior written agreement from BloomStone.

Any recording would only take place where there is a clear reason, with prior agreement and in line with BloomStone’s safeguarding and privacy procedures.

Any safeguarding concern will be taken seriously and handled according to BloomStone’s Safeguarding & Online Safety Statement.

Safeguarding concerns should be reported to:

Safeguarding contact: hello@bloomstonetutors.com
Safeguarding lead: Benjamin Smith

If there is an immediate risk of harm, parents should contact the relevant local emergency or safeguarding authority.

18. Student conduct

Students are expected to attend lessons on time, behave respectfully and take part appropriately.

Behaviour that may affect the continuation of lessons includes:

  • repeated refusal to participate

  • repeated non-engagement

  • repeatedly keeping the camera or microphone off without good reason

  • disruptive behaviour that prevents teaching

  • inappropriate language or behaviour

  • repeated unexplained absence or missed lessons

  • dishonesty about work or presenting work completed by someone else as the child’s own

Where there are concerns about participation or conduct, BloomStone will usually raise this with the parent and discuss what needs to change.

BloomStone may pause or end tuition where behaviour, participation or lesson readiness means effective online tuition is no longer appropriate.

19. Parent conduct

Parents are expected to communicate respectfully with BloomStone.

Abusive, threatening, discriminatory or inappropriate communication may result in tuition being paused or ended.

Where BloomStone ends tuition because of parent conduct, unused lesson credit will be handled according to these Terms and any applicable consumer rights.

20. Academic integrity and use of AI

BloomStone’s teaching is based on the child developing their own understanding and language control.

Children should not present work written by an adult, another person or an artificial intelligence tool as their own independent work.

AI tools may be useful in some learning contexts, but they should not replace the child’s own thinking, writing or spoken explanation.

Repeated or serious concerns about academic integrity may lead to a review of whether BloomStone support remains appropriate.

21. Learning needs, access needs and relevant information

Parents are encouraged to share any information that may help BloomStone provide safe and effective online tuition.

This may include learning needs, attention or confidence needs, access requirements, school transitions, previous tutoring experience or any other information relevant to lesson participation.

BloomStone will handle this information in line with its Privacy & Cookie Notice.

22. Refunds

Completed lessons are not refundable.

Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice and missed lessons are not normally refundable.

Refund requests for unused lesson credit must be made in writing.

Where a refund is agreed, BloomStone may deduct the cost of lessons already delivered, lessons cancelled late, missed lessons and any other charges that have been clearly agreed.

Refunds are normally returned to the original payment method where possible.

Refunds are usually processed within 14 business days of written confirmation that a refund has been agreed.

Nothing in this section affects any statutory rights that cannot be excluded or limited.

23. Consumer cancellation rights

Where applicable, parents may have a legal right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days of entering into it.

If you ask BloomStone to begin tuition within this 14-day period, you agree that tuition may start before the cancellation period has ended.

If you then cancel after lessons have begun, you may be required to pay for any lessons or services already provided.

If the paid lesson block has been fully completed within the 14-day period at your request, your right to cancel may be affected.

This section should be read alongside any cancellation information provided before payment.

24. Transfer of lesson credit

Lesson credit is for the named child and may not be transferred to another child, another family or another service without BloomStone’s written agreement.

BloomStone may consider transfer requests in limited circumstances, but transfer is not automatic and is subject to BloomStone’s discretion.

25. Termination by parents

Parents may choose to stop tuition at any time.

Lessons already delivered, late-cancelled lessons and missed lessons remain chargeable.

Unused lesson credit will be handled according to these Terms and any applicable consumer rights.

Parents should give written notice if they do not wish to continue after the current lesson block or unit.

26. Termination or suspension by BloomStone

BloomStone may pause or end tuition where:

  • payment has not been received

  • these Terms have been breached

  • the child’s needs fall outside the scope of BloomStone’s provision

  • online tuition is no longer suitable

  • there are safeguarding or wellbeing concerns

  • participation or conduct prevents effective teaching

  • parent conduct is inappropriate

  • there are repeated missed lessons, late arrivals or unresolved technical issues

Where BloomStone ends tuition, unused lesson credit will be handled according to these Terms and any applicable consumer rights.

27. Force majeure and events outside BloomStone’s control

BloomStone is not responsible for failure or delay caused by events outside its reasonable control.

This may include serious technical failure, platform outages, internet disruption, illness, natural disasters, public health restrictions, government action, power failure or other events that could not reasonably have been avoided.

Where practical, BloomStone will offer an alternative lesson time or another reasonable solution for affected lessons.

28. Data protection and privacy

BloomStone collects and uses parent and child information to manage enquiries, plan tuition, deliver lessons, communicate with parents, process payment and review progress.

Information is handled according to BloomStone’s Privacy & Cookie Notice.

Parents should not submit sensitive information unless it is relevant to the enquiry or tuition and they are comfortable sharing it.

BloomStone does not sell parent or child personal information.

29. Lesson materials and intellectual property

Lesson materials, resources, tasks, feedback, written content and teaching materials provided by BloomStone are for the child’s personal educational use only.

They may not be copied, shared, sold, published, adapted or used for commercial purposes without written permission from BloomStone.

30. Reviews and testimonials

BloomStone may ask parents or professional contacts for reviews or testimonials.

Testimonials will only be published with appropriate permission.

BloomStone does not publish invented, misleading or falsely attributed reviews.

Parents may request that an identifiable testimonial is removed from future website use.

31. Results and progress

BloomStone aims to provide structured, high-quality academic English tuition.

Progress depends on a range of factors, including the child’s starting point, attendance, participation, practice between lessons, school context and time available for development.

BloomStone does not guarantee specific grades, school outcomes, assessment results, school placement outcomes or timeframes for progress.

32. Concerns and complaints

Parents should contact BloomStone directly if they have a concern about tuition, communication, safeguarding or service quality.

Concerns will be taken seriously and handled according to BloomStone’s Complaints & Concerns Procedure.

Safeguarding concerns will be handled according to BloomStone’s safeguarding procedures.

33. Changes to services or terms

BloomStone may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The Terms accepted at the time of payment will normally apply to the lesson block purchased, unless a change is required by law or agreed in writing.

If BloomStone makes a significant change that affects current clients, BloomStone will communicate the change where appropriate.

34. Liability

BloomStone will provide tuition with reasonable care and skill.

BloomStone is not responsible for matters outside its reasonable control, including parent-side technical issues, internet failure, missed lessons, unsuitable lesson setup, school decisions, changes in school requirements or outcomes affected by factors outside BloomStone’s teaching.

BloomStone is not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

35. Governing law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute will be handled under the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless applicable consumer law provides otherwise.

36. Client agreement

By ticking the agreement box online, confirming tuition in writing, making payment or using BloomStone’s services, you confirm that:

  • you have read and understood these Terms & Conditions

  • you agree to follow these Terms & Conditions

  • you are authorised to enter into this agreement on behalf of the child receiving tuition

  • you understand that tuition is confirmed only once payment has been received

  • you understand that BloomStone does not guarantee specific academic outcomes

  • you understand that BloomStone will process parent and child information according to its Privacy & Cookie Notice
