Support starts with the right focus

Many children use English confidently in familiar situations. They can follow routines, join conversations, understand classroom instructions and read familiar texts aloud.

As schoolwork becomes more academic, the language demands increase.

Parents may notice that their child understands more than they can express clearly in English. This can show in brief reading responses, writing that lacks structure, or spoken answers that need more detail, accuracy and precision.

BloomStone turns that uncertainty into a clear teaching focus: what is already secure, what needs strengthening and what should be taught first.

How we help strengthen your child’s skill

Academic English is not one skill. BloomStone develops the connected language children need to read, write and contribute to academic discussions at a higher level.

Reading with depth

Children strengthen reading fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, interpretation and evidence-based responses, so they can engage more fully with richer texts.

Writing with Control

Children develop sentence accuracy, grammar, vocabulary choice, punctuation, paragraph structure and editing, so written work becomes clearer, more precise and better organised.

Explaining with Clarity

Children develop the language for clear spoken explanations, reasoned answers and thoughtful class discussion, so they can express ideas with greater clarity.
