Focused academic English support

BloomStone offers specialist online academic English tuition for children aged 7–11 in international schools.

Support is offered through three connected programmes: Reading, Writing, and Speaking & Listening.

Parents may begin with a specific concern, such as reading comprehension, writing control or spoken explanation. BloomStone reviews your child’s English profile and recommends the most appropriate teaching focus before lessons begin.

Writing Programme

For children developing greater accuracy, structure and control in written English.

The Writing Programme builds sentence accuracy, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary choice, paragraph structure, cohesion and editing. It helps children organise ideas clearly and write with greater precision, control and independence.

Reading Programme

For children developing stronger fluency, comprehension and depth in reading.

The Reading Programme builds vocabulary, comprehension, inference, interpretation and evidence-based response. It helps children understand texts more securely and respond to reading with greater clarity and depth.

Speaking & Listening Programme

For children developing clearer academic spoken communication.

The Speaking & Listening Programme builds well-structured answers, spoken explanation, discussion language, justification and reasoning. It helps children organise ideas aloud, respond thoughtfully and take part more clearly in class discussion.

BloomStone Tutors

A focused programme, adapted to your child

Each programme gives tuition a clear direction, but it is not a fixed script.

A child working on writing may benefit from oral rehearsal first. A child working on reading may need vocabulary and spoken explanation. A child working on Speaking & Listening may need sentence structures that help them organise ideas more clearly.

BloomStone uses the programme focus as a starting point, then adapts teaching according to what your child shows over time.

Older children or more extended academic English work may be best suited to 60-minute lessons at £100 / 900 CNY

The initial 12-lesson unit

BloomStone usually begins with a structured 12-lesson unit.

This gives enough time to set a clear focus, teach carefully, build practice, review progress and make a considered recommendation for next steps.

The 12-lesson structure gives families a clear starting point without requiring an open-ended commitment.

Payment and lesson credit

Lessons are paid for in advance in lesson blocks.

Once payment has been received, the lessons are added as lesson credit and used for scheduled sessions.

Lessons are booked in blocks of 12. Families may book one block at a time, or book three blocks in advance and receive a 5% saving.

1 block of 12 lessons

45-minute lessons: £900
60-minute lessons: £1,200

3 blocks booked one at a time

Before tuition begins, BloomStone will confirm:

  • the recommended programme focus

  • the lesson length

  • the lesson fee

  • the suggested payment block

  • the total amount due before the first lesson

Payment is made through a secure payment link or invoice provided after BloomStone has reviewed your child’s English profile and confirmed the recommended starting point.

Full payment, cancellation, rescheduling and refund details are provided in the Terms & Conditions before payment is requested.

What is included

Each unit includes:

  • a review of your child’s English profile before lessons begin

  • a recommended programme focus

  • carefully planned one-to-one online lessons

  • focused practice between lessons

  • short preparation tasks where helpful

  • ongoing review of your child’s learning

  • a midpoint progress update

  • a fuller written review at the end of the unit

Where continued support is recommended, the next unit builds on the progress already made. This allows your child to strengthen new skills, apply them with greater independence and move towards more developed academic English.
